the best choice for a comfortable conservatory
Bringing the outside in!

Conservatories are added to homes for many reasons. Extra room for the family to enjoy; to enhance the appearance and value of a property and perhaps most usually - because of the amount of glass involved - to bring the visual pleasure of an attractive garden indoors.

However there are drawbacks - if you have a standard glazed roof you will have to suffer excessive heat even on a mildly sunny day, low temperatures in the winter months due to high heat loss, and if it rains and you are unlucky enough to have a polycarbonate roof you won’t be able to hear yourself think..These factors can result in you using your wonderful new space much less often than you would like.

Now these problems have been addressed through the development of CervoglassTM ‘next generation’ conservatory glass which offers the double benefit of blocking solar heat from outside in the summer, and reducing heat loss from the inside in colder periods.

Solar factors

We all like the warmth that the sun supplies, but some other properties can make life difficult in a conservatory. Sunlight can fade carpets, furniture and soft furnishings, while excessive heat build-up makes the conservatory uncomfortable, as does the glare from the sun. Normal double-glazing allows most of the sun’s heat to pass through the glass.

Now, due to a special coating featured on CervoglassTM units, solar heat is reflected while glare is also substantially reduced.

There are five products in the range, Cervo Sol BrightTM, Cervo SolTM, Cervo CoolTM, CervoBrightTM, and Cervo TintTM. Each offers distinctive features designed to meet all performance, appearance and budgetary requirements.

Summer COOL

Quite frequently in the summer months the heat inside a conservatory creates an environment which is excessively warm, sticky and uncomfortable. Cooling measures can be effective but are costly. Ceiling fans tend to redistribute the heat rather than cool the atmosphere, and air conditioning can work well but is expensive to run.

The special coating contained within CervoglassTM double glazed roof units reflects up to almost three times the amount of solar heat when compared with normal standard glass. This increases the number of days in the year when the conservatory can be used in comfort.

CervoglassTM is highly recommended in the side frames especially if the conservatory is south facing.

Winter WARMTH

Sitting in a comfortable conservatory during the winter months can be as rewarding as in the summer. The hoar frost and snow on familiar trees and shrubs adds a new and magical appearance to a garden. In the winter you want to keep the heat in, however, much of the ambient heat is lost through the glass, making the conservatory much less snug and comfortable and more expensive to heat.

The special coating within CervoglassTM sealed units provides a U-Value (this measures heat loss during the colder months) half that of ordinary glass units, thereby reducing heating costs and harmful CO2 emissions that are produced when generating power for you to use.

Clean & Easy

Any Cervoglass product has a further string to its bow, with it’s specially designed ‘easy clean’ coating. Absolutely ideal on conservatory roofs where access is often limited and green algae and dirt deposits tend to build-up, the special coating works by preventing rain and water from forming droplets. Therefore when it rains the water spreads evenly over the surface of the glass and washes the dirt away, leaving a sparkling and spot-free finish.

Facts & Figures

The table below shows the properties of the five products in the CervoglassTM range. The U-Value is based on Argon gas filled units. The U-Value is the measurement of heat loss from inside the structure.

The Solar Heat reflection column in the chart below, shows the percentage of the heat from the sun reflected by the glass.

The light transmission column shows the percentage of natural light coming through the glass.

Product Range Product Tint U-Value Argon Filled Light Transmission Solar Heat Reflection Easy Clean
Cervo Sol BrightTM Solar Control/Low E Panel Blue 1.2 Yes 63% 75% Yes
Cervo SolTM Solar Control/Low E Panel Blue 1.4 No 63% 75% Yes
Cervo CoolTM Solar Control/Clear Panel Blue 2.7 No 68% 52% No
Cervo BrightTM Low E/Clear Panel Blue 1.2 Yes 72% 45% Yes
Cervo TintTM Tinted/Clear Panel Choice of 3 2.7 No 42% 42% No

All Cervoglass units offer superior noise reduction to traditional polycarbonate alternatives.
